The wine spent eighteen months in one-third new French oak barrels before bottling in the spring of 2006. A dollop (ten percent) of Cabernet Sauvignon plays a supporting role, adding structure. Two hundred and sixty-two barrels were produced.

Only the most persistent rays of light penetrate the dense, brilliant-ruby color. The aroma suggests plums and currants- but just as prevalent are sweet herbal and floral scents of licorice and violet, sweet spice and sous-de-bois.

A visual feast of high gloss purple, so dense it first appears black, seductively draws the eye toward the glass until the olfactories take over with an aromatic explosion of black currant, plum and brooding dark cherry. Do not be deceived, this wine is decidedly more complex than a New World fruit bomb. Behind the initial dark fruit core lie aromas of tobacco and culinary herbs (bay, fennel, mint) that unmistakably define this wine as Cabernet Sauvignon.
